During the first in-office consultation, we will discuss the details of your case in more detail than in the phone consultation. We will also tell you what additional documents we need. It is almost always cheaper, easier, and faster for us to obtain some documents. For these, we will tell you how much it is going to cost you. For the documents we need you to supply, we will decide together how you will get them to us.
We will also discuss with you legal fees, as well as costs you must advance to us to obtain necessary documents and file your petition. Sometimes, we need the additional documents to finalize the conversation about legal fees and costs.
Our fees are reasonable and flexible. Depending on your situation, they are generally flat fees for things that we do in every case. After we file your case, we charge an hourly rate for certain services which are not necessary in every case. Our fees are flexible to respond to your circumstances. You have not hired us as your attorneys until you have signed a written fee agreement with Williamson & Williams, PLLC.
After you hire us and advance costs for us to obtain documents, we will get the necessary documents and also electronically order your pre-petition credit-counseling course. It will be available to you online or by telephone within minutes after we order it. It should take you two or three hours to complete. The company will send the certificate of completion directly to us electronically within twenty-four hours of your completion.
Depending on your circumstances, we may meet with you more than once. Because of our flat fee for most services, we are able to meet with you or correspond by email as often as is necessary without further cost to you, to both get your case filed and keep it on track, or to advise you to proceed with an alternative to bankruptcy. This is bankruptcy planning, which is crucial to proceeding in the correct direction. Part of this planning is deciding on the timing of your filing, again depending on your individual situation.
Our flat fee structure also means that we are always available to answer questions after we file your case, preferable by email, but certainly also by telephone, or if appropriate, with an office appointment. We do not use texting for professional work.
